CHESAPEAKE, Mo. (AP) _ It took a Missouri Highway Patrol crash reconstruction team nearly a day to identify the victims and notify the families of two Oklahoma residents killed on Interstate 44.
The patrol says the victims of the crash Friday near Chesapeake in Lawrence County killed 80-year-old Genevieve Mooney and her husband, 76-year-old John Mooney of Midwest City, Oklahoma.
The patrol says Genevieve Mooney's car slid across the median and was broadsided by a semi. Both vehicles caught fire. The truck driver was rescued by passersby and was treated for minor injuries.
Chesapeake is about 25 miles southwest of Springfield.
