Union machinists at Boeing Wichita have an important vote next week. It could decide whether the sale of Boeing plants in Kansas and Oklahoma goes through.

Canada-based Onex Corporation has agreed to buy Boeing's commercial airplane operations in Wichita, Tulsa and McAlester. 4,500 of the 6,000 workers represented by the Machinists union are expected to be offered jobs in the new company.

Onex wants the union to endorse an agreement that cuts pay by 10 percent in the first year, but offers raises and shares of stock in later years.
