OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A resolution adopted by the Oklahoma House asks public libraries to remove books with homosexual themes from children's sections.
Republican Representative Sally Kern is the author of the resolution urging libraries to restrict certain books to adult sections.
The resolution was prompted by complaints from a couple in Kerr's Oklahoma City district whose child checked out the book titled "King of Kings." In the book, a young prince is attracted to another prince instead of princesses.
Kern says restricting access to such books doesn't risk unconstitutional infringement of free speech and still respects the rights of parents and families.
The simple resolution doesn't carry the effect of law. It was adopted Monday on an 81-to-3 vote.
