WEATHERFORD, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma's largest wind farm became fully operational on Saturday and now the builder says there are plans to expand it.
FPL Energy built the facility that generates 106.5 megawatts of electricity from wind near Weatherford and says it will expand the capacity to 147 megawatts. Construction is to begin in late summer or early fall with completion by the end of the year.
Public Service Company of Oklahoma has agreed to buy the electricity produced by the facility. PSO also plans to buy electricity from a 151 megawatt wind farm under construction near Lawton.
