MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A Stilwell woman has been convicted of embezzling thousands of dollars from a federal housing program.
Vicky Crook could face up to ten years in prison after being found guilty Tuesday of a charge of theft of federal program funds.
Federal prosecutors say that in her capacity of executive director of the Stilwell Housing Authority the 51-year-old stole more than $5,000 from the authority and the Department of Housing and Urban Development and used it for her own benefit from April 2000 to March 2001.
Authorities say testimony revealed that more than $50,000 was stolen during her tenure as executive director.
Crook will be sentenced after a presentence investigation. She was released on bond pending sentencing.
