OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A day after voting to keep Oklahoma's 20-year-old ban on Veterans Day liquor sales, the state House reversed itself and voted to lift the ban.
State House members voted 55-to-33 Thursday to allow package liquor stores to open on Veterans Day and sent the Senate-passed measure to Governor Brad Henry for his signature. The same measure was defeated 48-to-48 on Wednesday.
Henry has not expressed opposition to the bipartisan bill and his office said he would consider it.
The measure's passage was welcomed by the president of the Retail Liquor Association of Oklahoma, which sought the change.
