MIAMI, Okla. (AP) -- Officials say suspected serial killer Jeremy Jones is considered a person of interest in the 1997 killings of a Commerce couple in southeast Kansas.

Ottawa County Sheriff Dennis King says Jones is a person of interest in the March 5th, 1997, slaying of Harmon Fenton and Sarah Palmer.

King says Jones was an informant for the Ottawa County Drug Task Force nine years ago and bought drugs from Fenton.

The two were found shot to death in the bed of a pickup parked in a shed near Melrose, about four miles north of the Oklahoma state line in southeast Kansas.

Jones currently is being held in a Mobile County, Alabama, jail without bail. He has been charged in Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana in the slayings of three women.
