When a student at this school saw a gun inside a 14 year old boy's notebook case, that student went straight to the principal's office. The principal found the 380 caliber pistol that was loaded with six rounds, called the police and summoned the boy's parents.
After learning there could be more weapons, he put the entire school on lockdown for two hours and searched every locker. A 15-year-old student had brought a pipe and 22-caliber blank rounds.
They did so because they thought a girl's older brother, who was rumored to be in a gang, was going to find the boys after school.
Cpl Brian Collum, Tulsa Police: "The male student wanted to go out with a female student and she didn't want to have anything to do with him. So, he started coming on to her and that turned into threats by the male student and the female said she'd get her relative down there if she was going to be harmed and it escalated through the week to where weapons were brought to school."
A student had brought a knife to school on Thursday. A doctor who works across from the school was shocked.
Dr Ed Dailey, Nextdoor Neighbor: "I think it's astounding kids can get into school with guns, are your kids going to school where there are guns?"
The principal says the boys who brought the gun and the pipe will get long-term suspensions. Two other boys will get shorter suspensions for knowing about the gun and not telling.
The principal says not only did the gun incident shock him, it also hurt his heart.
