In the last week, the Democratic race for Tulsa mayor turned into an attack, with the self-described "underdog" charging his opponent thinks she's above the law. The claims in one campaign ad are not as clear as they sound.

News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan has this update on Campaign 2006, the Tulsa vote.

Kathy Taylor fired back when she was accused of fraud by Don McCorkell. Kathy Taylor ad: “Don McCorkell is attacking me because he's a politician and that's what politicians do." Don McCorkell ad: “Lawyer Kathy Taylor thinks she's above the law."

The McCorkell ad claims Taylor didn't fully pay property taxes in Florida. Taylor says she didn't know the taxes were due - but she's paid them while an attorney continues to sort it out. And as for the mention of a mansion - she does live in one of Tulsa's largest private homes. And just for the record, while McCorkell's house isn't a mansion, it's far bigger and nicer than most.

Don McCorkell ad: "What about having Driver's licenses in both Oklahoma and Florida?” The ad makes it sound like Kathy Taylor has two drivers’ licenses - but even McCorkell admits that's not true. Don McCorkell: "You'd have to ask Marvin, our campaign manager, I believe we have documented evidence on her husband having it and they were seeking it on her." But McCorkell's campaign couldn't produce any evidence to dispute Taylor's word. Kathy Taylor: "I do not have two drivers’ licenses."

On the voter fraud claim - the ad says Taylor voted twice - and McCorkell makes it sound like it she's guilty. Don McCorkell: "She did commit voter fraud, there's no question about that." But there are questions, even from the election board which says it's possible their records are wrong. Kathy Taylor: "It just so happens that this mistake is very important to me, not only because of this election, but for my integrity."

The candidates and their ads have until Tuesday to make their mark.

Kathy Taylor is registered to vote in two states, but that's not unusual. When a person moves and registers to vote in a new state, its common practice for the old registration to be active until it's purged automatically when a person fails to vote.
