Local private investigators spoke out Thursday in response to Tulsa Police chief Dave Been being put on administrative leave.

The Tulsa Chapter of the Oklahoma Private Investigators Association voted unaminously for a public show of support for Chief Been. They say there has always been a discord between law enforcement and private investigators. But Been has helped bring the walls down and made it possible for the public and private sectors to work together.

Bill Howard with OPIA: "we have a good working relationship. it has improved over the years and chief been is one of the reasons it has improved."

George Kennedy with OPIA: “its our position that chief Been has been unjustly attacked. he's been treated in a highly unprofessional manner."

The OPIA wants to stress they are not a political organization. They take no position in the upcoming Tulsa municipal elections.
