OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The board of the state Department of Corrections wants to give prison director Justin Jones a $30,000 a year pay raise.
Jones is currently paid $120,000 a year. Prisons spokesman Jerry Massey says the board believes Jones' responsibilities are similar to the head of a Fortune 500 company and his pay should reflect that.
Jones says he's not involved in the request and that he knew the salary when he took the job.
A bill pending in the Legislature would provide a $24-million supplemental appropriation to provide pay raises for prison guards. Guards currently start at about $20,000 a year.
