OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A state House committee passes an anti-abortion measure that would require abortion clinics to offer ultrasound scans to women seeking an abortion.
The measure by Del City state Representative Kevin Calvey would require abortion clinics to provide women the chance to view an ultrasound 24 hours prior to an abortion.
The bill was sent to the House floor by the House Health and Human Services Committee, which approved the measure two weeks ago. Calvey said he sent the measure back to committee to consider a variety of amendments.
Ultrasound procedures depict a continuous picture of a fetus on a monitor screen.
The bill is part of a package of anti-abortion measures supporters said should reduce the number of abortions in the state.
