ENID, Okla. (AP) -- An undercover sting operation in Enid over the weekend nets three arrests for the sale of liquor to minors.

The Garfield County Sheriff's Office also issued eight citations to store clerks who sold beer or tobacco to underage volunteers who participated in the sting.

Authorities say nearly 60 percent of the stores targeted in the sting sold beer or liquor to underage minors.

Undersheriff Jerry Niles says he was surprised by the results since the only about 30 percent of retailers failed to comply during the last sting operation.

The three clerks who sold liquor -- including a fifth of vodka and two bottles of whiskey -- were handcuffed and taken to Garfield County Detention Facility.
