Bet you think home delivery of milk ended a long time ago, and you'd be right.

Most of it did, but News on 6 reporter Rick Wells has found a Tulsa man who still delivers milk and other products door to door just like in the old days.

John Davidson is maybe Tulsa's last home delivery milkman. Sammy his 4-year-old lab is his trusty helper. Lot's of regular customers, some of them once, some twice a week. "This one's twice a week, this is the most they'll need."

Davidson say it takes him about a week or two to figure how much a family will need. After that he's pretty much on his own. He's been delivering to one Tulsa home for about 15 years, watched the family grow from three to six. Milk, eggs, juice, whatever they need. Watching the kids grow up is one of the fringe benefits.

A long-time customer sent one off to college this fall. "I said, little John, yeah, well John's up to here now." The job has occasional hazards, once he was filling up the fridge and heard someone behind him. â€œHe said who are you and what are you doing. I turned around he had a shotgun in his hand. I said hold man I'm the milkman." Nobody told the housesitter.

Most of the time it's pretty pleasant duty, the reactions are much more grateful, like now. Jacqui Marouk: "It's been a life saver for me." Jacqui has two sets of twins and this is a big part of her weekly shopping she doesn't have to think about. "Exactly, it's very nice."

Up everyday at 4:30 AM, John and Sammy are usually home by noon, nice gig for a morning person. "I wish everybody had a job they enjoy as much as I do."
