The Tulsa city council shoots down a contractor's request for more time on a road construction project.
The widening project at 71st and Yale was supposed to be finished in January. The construction company, Sherwood Construction asked the council for a 40 day extension. The city says crews were delayed after finding a phone cable where it wasn't supposed to be.
The company faces fines if the project isn't finished on time, but the request for an extension wasn't received well. Tulsa resident Sam Berry: "It seems like this particular construction company should have did their homework when it came to utility challenges in the area."
The council voted unanimously Thursday night to deny the extension request. The city council says the decision puts teeth into the validity of the contract.
