Friday is a big day for north Tulsa. For the first time in years, maybe decades, they're breaking ground on a new subdivision. Ogan's Circle is a group of 20 upscale homes near Pine and Peoria.

News on 6 reporter Steve Berg got a preview Thursday.

Ogan's Circle is named after Esther Ogan, who's still getting used to the idea of having a subdivision named after her. "I'm proud, but it's still a little overwhelming for me."

Ogan lived near the subdivision in the 40's and 50's and remembers how things used to be. "There was schoolteachers, doctors, lawyers, they all lived in this area. And then all of a sudden, it seems like the neighborhood just died." But now a new neighborhood is being born. One house is already built, two more are on the way and twenty in all are being planned in the $130,000 to $150,000 range, with large lots.

North Tulsa has had lots of in-fill, but it's been scattered, this is the first time in a long time that you've had houses grouped together to form an actual subdivision.

"This is pretty much the largest contiguous space in north Tulsa that has been built in decades." Developer Anthony Crawford actually lives in the subdivision's first house and says 3 others have already been sold. He says the buyers, like him, used to live in north Tulsa, moved away, and are now coming back. "It's actually performed better than even what I thought it was going to, but it really has so we're excited."

Esther Ogan: "When we started, you would not believe the number of vacant lots we had in this area, but now they're hard to come by. It's getting there; it takes a long time. I'm going to have to live to be 100 so we can get it all done."
