ADAMSON, Okla. (AP) -- Customers of the Adamson Rural Water District in southeast Oklahoma have been given the OK to drink the water.
But they might not want to use it to wash their clothes.
Residents have been plagued by discolored water off and on since the first part of December.
They've had to contend with water that ranges from a light tea coloring, to brown or even black.
Rural water district manager Gary Peoples says all tests indicate the water is safe to drink, but he admits he isn't planning on drinking it any time soon.
State and federal officials say the water is discolored due to high levels of manganese in the water, but that the substance doesn't have adverse health affects.
