OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An advisory council to the governor will ask the FBI to investigate the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old Hispanic man by a Norman police officer.
The Governor's Council on Latin American and Hispanic Affairs voted 8-to-1 last week to request an FBI investigation of Richard Lee Sanchez's death.
Sanchez was shot 13 times by the officer on September 26.
Cleveland County District Attorney Tim Kuykendall says he investigated the death and Officer Chad Vincent was justified in using deadly force.
He says Vincent thought Sanchez was endangering other people and was reaching for a weapon when he fired the shots at him, striking 13 times.
