ALTUS, Okla. (AP) -- Funeral services were held Monday for longtime state senator Robert Kerr of Altus.
Governor Brad Henry ordered all flags on state property to be flown at half staff Monday in Kerr's honor.
The Altus Democrat died Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. He was 73.
Kerr was elected to the Senate in 1986 and represented all or parts of eight southwestern Oklahoma counties.
A memorial service for Kerr is planned in the state Senate on February 6th prior to the start of the four-month regular legislative session.
A special election will be called to fill his unexpired term, which expires at the end of this year. No date has been set.
