OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Henry is proposing a special state crime bureau unit to combat the growing problem of sex predators who use the Internet to target children.

Henry says his "Safe Net" plan would help law enforcement clamp down on child pornographers and pedophiles.

The plan would also make it a felony to solicit a child, expand the definition of technology to cover all forms of communications and pay for a public awareness campaign.

Under Henry's program, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation would establish the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to investigate child pornography and solicitation of minors.

The OSBI gets some federal funding for the investigations but is hampered by limited manpower.
