WILBURTON, Okla. (AP) -- A Wilburton man was killed when the pickup truck he was riding in collided with another vehicle in Latimer County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says James Cary Vester suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident about 1:20 Tuesday afternoon on US Highway 270 near Wilburton.
Troopers believe a sport utility vehicle headed north on a county road failed to yield at a stop sign and struck a truck driven by Bronwyn Fairless that was headed east on the highway.
The SUV occupants weren't hurt.
Fairless was treated for minor injuries and released from a McAlester hospital, but passenger Matthew Chance suffered head and neck injuries and was taken to a Fort Smith, Arkansas, hospital where he's listed in stable condition.
The patrol says no one was wearing a seat belt in the truck.
