MENA, Ark. (AP) -- A historical marker at the Oklahoma-Arkansas state line near Mena, Arkansas, has been stolen.
US Forest Service spokeswoman CJ Norvell says the metal post was put in place in 1877. It was anchored a few feet from the Talimena Scenic Byway that winds through the Ouachita National Forest from Mena to Talihina in eastern Oklahoma.
Norvell says the 4-foot marker is nearly priceless because of its historical value and the person who took it could be charged with a felony.
