ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) -- 20th Judicial District Attorney Mitch Sperry died of a heart attack Wednesday morning at his home in Ardmore.

The State Medical Examiner's Office says an autopsy shows the heart attack was caused by an irregular heartbeat rhythm due to an enlarged heart.

The 44-year-old Sperry was discovered about 5:45 AM.

Sperry was elected district attorney in 1999 for the district that includes Carter, Johnson, Love, Marshall and Murray counties.

He is survived by a wife and two children.

He was named Oklahoma District Attorney of the Year last year and was a member of the Chickasaw Nation Legislature.

First Assistant District Attorney Charles Migliorino will replace Sperry until Governor Brad Henry appoints a successor to finish the remainder of his term.
