OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The medical director of a Pawnee nursing home is accused of embezzling a million dollar legal settlement from his father -- who didn't even know about the settlement for two years.
Doctor William Clymer is charged with felony financial exploitation by a caretaker for taking the money from 79-year-old Edward Winston.
Attorney General Drew Edmondson says the 79-year-old Winston was injured in a January 2002 auto accident and Clymer later filed a lawsuit. Edmondson says Clymer then forged his father's signature on court documents that made him Winston's legal guardian and in August 2003 he agreed to a $1-million settlement of the lawsuit without his father's knowledge.
Winston learned about the settlement this summer when he was denied Medicaid coverage because of the settlement.
