KANSAS, Okla. (AP) _ A 19-year-old Colcord man was killed when authorities say he laid down in the middle of a highway and was hit by a passing vehicle, which then left the scene.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Michael Speed was riding in a car along US Highway 412 in Delaware County when he got into an argument with the driver.

The patrol says the car came to a stop, and Speed got out and laid in the roadway. A passing vehicle then struck Speed and killed him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened just before midnight Friday night.
