EDMOND, Okla. (AP) _ Edmond police say a body found burning Monday morning in the northeast part of the city is that of a woman.
Spokeswoman Glynda Chu says a police officer found the body burning in a pile of brush near a housing development after firefighters put out a grass fire shortly after 2 AM.
Chu said the death is considered ``suspicious,'' but it's not yet being called a homicide.
Chu says an Edmond police officer spotted the fire while on patrol and called the fire department.
The officer and another were helping firefighters look for hot spots when he found the body.
The body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Oklahoma City for identification and to determine the cause of death.
Chu said the area where the body was found is very remote with only a few paved streets where a developer is clearing land for a housing subdivision.
