OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state lawmaker is urging Oklahomans to place orders for a "Patriot License Plate," now that the design for the special plate is complete.
State Representative Ryan Kiesel of Seminole was author of a bill passed by the 2005 Legislature that created the voluntary license plates, which cost $35 each. Of that amount, $20 will go into a fund to buy body armor and other combat and training equipment for Oklahoma soldiers.
Kiesel says officials in other states are considering similar legislation.
Applications for the special plates are available at local tag agencies or by calling the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
