A Tulsa man who fought back against a car thief is in the hospital with a stab wound.

Tulsa Police say Daniel Harjo had started his car early Tuesday morning and then gone back inside his motel room in the 10100 block of East 11th Street, when he saw a man stealing the car.

Harjo jumped from his second-story motel balcony onto the hood of his car and grabbed the thief from behind the wheel. The thief stabbed him, but Harjo managed to hold onto Curtis Luttrell [pictured] until Tulsa Police arrived.

Luttrell is a former Lee Elementary School teacher who was arrested in 2002 for stealing beer and having a controlled drug.
