KELLYVILLE, Okla. (AP) -- House Speaker Todd Hiett is running for Lieutenant Governor.

Hiett announced his plans Monday morning in Kellyville and says he wants to build on Republican changes in state government.

Hiett was first elected to the state House in 1994 and became the first Republican speaker after the GOP won control of the state House in the 2004 elections. He's prohibited by term limits from running for re-election.

Current Republican Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin announced plans to run for Congress in the Fifth District after Republican Congressman Ernest Istook announced he's running for governor.
