A restructuring effort aimed at saving Georgia-Pacific money will have a postive impact at it's Muskogee mill.

The maker of a variety of paper and lumber products says the elimination of jobs in Wisconsin will idle up to four tissue paper machines and about 70 converting lines. The job reductions are part of a restructuring effort that allow Georgia-Pacific to save $100-million a year.

Officials stress that there will be no reductions in the workforce at the Muskogee mill. The mill has just over 1,200 employees.

Georgia-Pacific says because of the Muskogee plant's 'low cost producing status', the company is adding equipment, which in turn will allow Georgia-Pacific's product service area in the western US to expand.

The Muskogee plant produces a variety of consumer products, including Brawny, Quilted Northern tissue, Angel Soft and private label consumer products.
