OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Twin girls are born prematurely at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City after their parents fled Hurricane Rita.
Father Wolfgang John and mother Nalan left behind their doctor and hospital for a place more than 400 miles away.
Luka and Kiya John -- both less than 17 inches long and about four pounds -- will grow up hearing stories about how their parents traveled two days to escape a storm and find a good hospital for them.
The girls' birth on Saturday came just days after the couple drove from Kingwood, Texas, just north of Houston. The parents -- both former Oklahoma City residents -- found refuge in the city with friends.
