"Do it for the Kids" is the theme of the 2005 Tulsa Public Schools bond campaign that goes to voters on November 8th. The campaign kicked off Saturday.
The campaign is for a $162-million bond proposal aimed at giving Tulsa kids an updated education. This is the fourth step in a 20-year plan that was started 10 years ago by a group of concerned citizens.
TPS superintendent Dr David Sawyer: "There's on question that our citizens need to continue that investment plan so that our schools are renovated in a timely manner and every student in every neighborhood has the opportunity to attend a school that's up to date and current."
If approved, this bond would replace and rehabilitate school buildings, add textbooks, learning materials and classroom technology. Supporters say it won't raise taxes because previous bonds are being retired.
