OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State officials plan to sell a vacant office building after spending almost $1-million to transform it into a headquarters for the state Department of Corrections.

Critics want the state to find the money to repair the structure. They say the building is another example of government waste.

The Classen Terrace Building, located north of downtown Oklahoma City, is set to be sold at auction on November 11th. The loss to taxpayers would be about $300,000 if the property sells for the minimum price.

Records indicate that the Corrections Department has invested up to $900,000 in the property. Officials purchased the building in 1994 for $250,000 and have spent thousands more on repairs, a roof, interior demolition and asbestos removal.
