CHICKASHA, Okla. (AP) -- About 270 people in the Chickasha area will be losing their job as auto parts maker ArvinMeritor is moving part of its operation to Mexico.
Shock absorbers and struts made at the plant will be moved to Mexico by November. Company officials say the move to outsource the jobs is necessary for ArvinMeritor to remain competitive.
Spokeswoman Krista McClure says the plant has 380 company workers and 210 temporary employees. About 300 workers will remain at the plant in packaging, distribution, receiving, design engineering, rod manufacturing and other operations.
