The man accused of shooting out a store's window with a BB gun is finally going to trial, two and a half years after he was charged.

News on 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright has followed this case explains why it has taken so long to get the case to a Tulsa County courtroom.

The short answer is Larry Watts has buried the court system in paperwork. After firing at least three attorneys, he decided to represent himself and he has filed dozens upon dozens of hand-written motions.

Here's a short list of some of the things he wanted. For police officers not to be allowed to wear their uniforms when they testify, to allow the jury to visit the crime scene, to not allow the jury to see pictures of the evidence and on and on. He even filed a motion for a new judge, which he didn't get either.

Watts was finally ordered to get an attorney last fall. Because of his paranoid and at times strange behavior, the judge ordered Watts to have a second competency hearing and was found competent again, which means he can understand the charges against him and assist in his defense.

Watts was charged after the owners of Snows Furniture staked out their own business after having their front window shot several times. They say they saw Watts fire a BB gun and their window and followed him and called police. He was arrested with two BB gun pistols and ammunition in his car.

Watts is only charged in the one case, but someone had shot out more than 400 store windows in 2003. Those shootings have for the most part, stopped.

Jury selection in Watts' trial begins Tuesday.
