Tulsa city officials get a close-up look at the BOK Center in downtown Tulsa, the day before the next set of critical bids are opened for its construction.

News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says the BOK Center is about 25 percent done.

You might be thinking to yourself, you thought it would be bigger. Well, it will be. It will go up another 6 stories or so. And it will be another 60 feet or so wider, all the way around. This was the first look at the inside for many officials.

Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor says she has a good view from her office, but this is the first close-up look for her.

The main bowl of the arena is definitely taking shape, and you can clearly see where the rows of seats will be. Four big bids still remain, the plumbing, the glass wall on the outside, the roof, and the ice floor.

Mayor Kathy Taylor doesn’t think there will be any more nasty surprises in the bidding process. "I always worry, but we are focused on keeping this project within budget, and since we went back through the value-engineering project, we are very much staying on that track."

This part of the construction is going up fast, but the fine details take longer. Officials say they are still roughly two years from completion.
