NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma's Mark Williams has been named head coach of the US gymnastics team for this year's world championships.

Williams led the Sooners to four NCAA titles in the past five years. He was honored last week as the USA Gymnastics Coach of the Year.

Under Williams, Oklahoma won the national title in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006.

His selection comes two days after Oklahoma's Jonathan Horton, the 2006 NCAA all-around champion, was named to the US squad.

The world championships will be held October 14-22 in Denmark. The top 12 teams qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
