OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board denies clemency for a man facing execution for stabbing an Oklahoma City woman to death in 1994.
The board also rejected a plea from Eric Patton's attorney, federal public defender Susan Otto, who wants the governor to consider a moratorium on executions until the humaneness of the state's lethal injection procedure can be determined.
Otto also argued that the jury didn't have testimony that Patton was, quote, "a sick man acting under the influence of drugs," when he stabbed Charlene Kauer in her home. She says Patton acted without premeditation.
Assistant Attorney General Robert Whittaker says the jury heard testimony of Patton's drug problems but at some point, Patton is responsible for what he did.
Julie Lambert -- the daughter of the slain woman -- asked the board not to grant clemency.
