A former OSU football standout has another run-in with the law.
Prentiss Elliot is free on bond from the Tulsa County jail. Elliot was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a traffic stop in the 5000 block of North Boston Place.
Officers were investigating a shooting nearby when they say a car driven by Elliott run a stop sign. A search turned up a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat. Detectives have not linked Elliott to the shooting. But he was jailed on charges related to the traffic stop.
Court documents allege Elliot is a member of the G-Unit gang, which he denies. Tulsa Police wouldn't confirm Elliot's alleged gang status. Tulsa Police Sgt. Mike Huff: "Well I wouldn't characterize them as what their exact nature is with a gang, but we think this has the appearances of a gang-type crime, an exchange of gunfire in a neighborhood which has been affected by gang shootings in the past."
This is not Elliot's first run-in with the law. He was convicted for assaulting an off duty officer at a high school basketball game in 2003.
