OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A state audit says the Oklahoma Consumer Credit Department should be more prudent with its spending practices.
The audit, released Tuesday, cites sloppy practices involving cell phones and compensatory time for employees. It also points out questionable expenditures such as the administrator having a Global Positioning System on his cell phone.
In spite of the problems, Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan says he found no criminal activity.
The audit was conducted after a former employee made about 15 allegations. Donald Hardin, the department's administrator, says he's relieved over the findings.
The agency, which has 15 employees, has regulatory oversight of pawn brokers, payday loan shops and mortgage brokers.
