The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a paroled murderer, who they believe killed again early Wednesday morning. Officers captured 49 year-old David Leaverton outside his sister's home in Foyil.
An alert neighbor called 911 and told the dispatcher she stepped out on to her porch, and saw Leaverton crawling on the ground.
Marsha Hipp lives next door to Leaverton's sister and recognized him because she'd spoken with him several times. “You know he's come over done favors for me, cut limbs out of my trees, never thought. You know I knew he'd done bad things in his past but, you know."
The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office says Leaverton kicked-in the door of his ex-girlfriend's house near Sequoyah and shot her husband, Chris Puckett, twice. Puckett died at the scene, his wife was not injured.
Sheriff’s deputies say Leaverton was armed when they found him, but that he did not resist.
