OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Two Oklahomans who died while serving in the Pacific theater in World War Two were buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

The US Department of Defense said that Technical Sergeant Alfred W. Hill of Temple and Staff Sergeant Wilburn W. Rozzell of Duncan were aboard a B-24 Liberator that flew out of New Guinea on a reconnaissance mission on November 4th, 1943.

The plane disappeared after it reportedly destroyed a Japanese convoy sailing in the Bismark Sea.

A military group exploring unrelated World War II sites was directed to the crash site in New Guinea in March 2002.

Excavation of the site revealed human remains and personal effects that led to the identification of members of the nine-person crew.
