TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality issues an ozone alert for the Tulsa metropolitan area.
The alert is the eighth ozone alert issued this year for Tulsa.
Residents are encouraged to help reduce pollution by riding in carpools or on public transportation, to fill up motor vehicle gas tanks in the evening, avoid gas-powered lawn mowers and avoid or combine trips.
DEQ officials say those suffering from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease and diabetes are susceptible to ozone pollution.
