Vian Man Drowns In Tenkiller Lake

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- A Vian man dies while swimming in Tenkiller Lake.<br/><br/>The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 23-year-old Joshua D- Barnes was swimming behind a beached boat in the lake Saturday.

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- A Vian man dies while swimming in Tenkiller Lake.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 23-year-old Joshua D- Barnes was swimming behind a beached boat in the lake Saturday. He went under the water and did not resurface, and civilian divers tried to locate him.

The divers recovered Barnes within 15 minutes, in 12 feet of water. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Tahlequah hospital.
