WASHINGTON (AP) -- An Oklahoma senator urges caution as an investigation into an alleged Marine massacre of Iraqi civilians continues.
Senator James Inhofe is among a group of lawmakers from both sides of the aisle who say that Congress and the public still don't have all the facts and shouldn't prejudge the outcome of the military investigations.
Inhofe says it's too early to pass judgment on what happened, but that, quote, "things don't look good."
US Marines are alleged to have killed up to 24 Iraqi civilians last November in the town of Haditha without cause and then engaged in a cover-up.
After the military investigation ends the Senate plans to hold hearings soon to look into the matter.
