Stillwater Police are searching for a convicted rapist that is on the run.

40-year-old Maynard Lane pleaded guilty to molesting and raping a 15-year-old girl in Payne County. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, but the judge in the case let Lane go free to visit a dying relative.

Lane was supposed to turn himself into prison authorities, but never showed up.

He's been convicted of manslaughter before and legal analysts say the judge should have never released him.

The Payne County DA has issued an arrest warrant for Lane.
