YUKON, Okla. (AP) _ A freight train hit a pickup truck at an intersection Monday, killing one person in the vehicle and injuring another, authorities said.
The accident at 11:44 AM killed a 17-year-old boy, said Lara O'Leary, a spokeswoman for the Emergency Medical Services Authority. Another 17-year-old boy in the truck was transported to a hospital. His condition wasn't immediately available.
The Union Pacific train, which included 21 cars hauling aggregate rock, was traveling from Chickasha to Oklahoma City when the accident occurred, said Mark Davis, a spokesman for the train company. No train cars were derailed and nobody was injured on the train.
On March 7, a Union Pacific train hit a dump truck at another railroad crossing in the Yukon area, killing the driver of the truck, injuring three people in the trains' lead locomotive and causing the train's two locomotives and 29 of its cars to derail.
