WYNNEWOOD, Okla. (AP) -- Plant officials say a blaze that broke out at the Wynnewood Refining Company has been reduced to a minor fire.
The fire broke out following an explosion Friday afternoon in the alkylation unit at the plant, forcing the evacuation of some area homes, schools and daycare centers.
The only injury reported was for the treatment of a firefighter who suffered heat exhaustion.
Fire officials on Saturday poured quick-setting concrete into the flare line that's believed to be the main source of fuel for the blaze.
It's believed propane is fueling the fire.
Plant officials said Sunday Environmental Protection Agency staffers who had been onsite monitoring for the presence of harmful gases left after determining there were no remaining air quality issues.
It remains unclear what caused the fire, but officials will pursue an investigation.
According to the statement, the refinery has a daily capacity of about 55,000 barrels.
