OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- According to a national study, Oklahoma ranks 44th in the nation for access and use of educational technology.

Education Week's annual report titled "Technology Counts 2006" gave Oklahoma a 69.5, compared with the national average of 76.6.

State Superintendent Sandy Garrett says the low grade was the result of a reporting glitch and that the state's average should have been much higher.

Garrett says Education Week's survey was sent to a new employee who incorrectly completed it and didn't send the required supporting materials.

The study graded states on 14 indicators spanning three general areas. The areas include access to technology, use of technology and capacity to use technology.
