A Tahlequah high school student is receiving top honors.

The teen was named Oklahoma Boys and Girls Clubs' 'Youth of the Year' after delivering an award-winning speech to the state legislature. Yazmin Quezada is now embarking on a future she'd only dreamed of.

Along with the contest scholarship, Yazmin is earning money for college by tutoring kids after school, helping with homework and teaching English. She knows what a vital skill it is, she learned English at the after school program as a child, now she wants to give something back.

"I had so many plans in my life, so many dreams but I thought they were just not going to happen. Now thanks to Boys and Girls Clubs all of them are coming."

Yazmin says without the club she never could've afforded college.

She now goes to the regional competition in June.
